Yuusha no Kuzu Ep.04 - Yashiro cut off Aki's backstory. Next is Sara's turn!

The fourth episode of Yuusha no Kuzu (勇者のクズ) continues with the episodic approach, dedicating one episode to each heroine to introduce their personalities. This time, it was Jougamine Aki's turn to take the spotlight. Honestly, she is sort of the main heroine, so there isn't much new to learn about her in the present day.

It would have been interesting to see her backstory in more detail, but Yashiro cut Ishinoo off before he could talk about her father. So, all we know is that she was inspired by him to become a Hero. Her father died in the line of duty, and the reason remains unknown as of now.

This one can totally be used as a reaction image, I should save it in my folder for future use...

Definitely important info, but Yashiro doesn't want to be dragged in...

The story of the episode itself was pretty standard. Aki gets hired by Ishinoo because of her ability to read other people's minds to snoop on a target. Apparently, there is an underground group selling E3 illegally, and he wants to know more about their activities. Yashiro is hired (forcibly, by reminding him of the debt he owes Ishinoo) to act as a bodyguard and nanny for Aki.

After doing her job, Aki tries to save two girls who were brought to the venue by the henchmen of a Demon Lord, and Yashiro has to jump in and resolve the situation. It was interesting to see how easily Yashiro can adapt to the situation; the guy with the invisible sword didn't even see him coming.

What are you talking about? There's no way that someone as lawful as Aki would drink! What has she ever done illegally?! View video page

Oh, it seems like E3 is not just an enhancing drug but also a recreational one, so there are people using it just for fun. Yashiro mentioned that it has addictive effects, so I wonder how long (or how many doses) someone can use it before completely ruining their life. If the result is what happened to that Demon Lord from the previous story arc, the consequences could be dire.

Judging from the preview segment, the next episode will be entirely dedicated to Sara Pendragon, and I am really curious to see more of her personality and powers. Aki mentioned something about it in this episode but cut herself off before fully explaining what she meant. Honestly, she looks like the only reasonable girl among the three, but surely there has to be a catch, right?

Admittedly that's probably the best strategy with Aki. Talking wouldn't make her change mind anyway

Sara has good taste, you look ultra cute. Quite girlish tastes!

It also seems like the final scene with Ishinoo wiping out a criminal group will connect to this episode in some way. I am honestly a bit suspicious of him. He has the typical elements that make you doubt a character. You know when a character frequently has their eyes closed while talking? That triggers my danger instincts.
