Zombie Sagashitemasu Ep.04 - So? Safe or not safe? Don't leave me hanging...

Episode 4 of #Zombie Sagashitemasu continues from where we left off, with Natsuki missing an arm, the looming risk of her turning, and Yuu in a complete panic because she blames herself for the whole thing starting in the first place. Not that it was truly her fault, but in her own eyes, that's how it feels.

Natsuki's condition is grim, but that's to be expected considering Aki severed her arm in a single swing. It's genuinely painful to see her in that state; please give me back my lazy, half-crazy Natsuki. Preferably by the next episode, as I don't know if I can take another full episode like this.

I'll come honest here, for all these four episodes I was unsure if Yuu was a boy or a girl, but this clears it out. Girl it is!

I wonder what's the backstory behind Sakura, is there a reason behind the fact that she changes faces the moment she get a weapon?

Yuu's backstory was also pretty unexpected: it turns out that in her village, she was deemed useless simply because she lacked physical strength. Honestly, that's incredibly stupid on the villagers' part. Knowledge is the foundation of any functioning society; what are they going to do when someone falls sick? Pray to the gods?

Near the end, we also meet Mikazuki's former comrades: a strange, masked group that is deeply jaded by the state of the world and lives by strict rules. Discarding Mikazuki was merely one of those rules in action. Not that I blame them for wanting nothing to do with zombies, but it would have been far kinder to put her out of her misery themselves.

Again, it's not like Mikazuki had a chance, but they could've killed her themselves instead of letting her wander alone at the end of her life... View video page

Their faction feels far more like a genuine post-apocalyptic survivalist group, much more so than the villages Aki and the others keep mentioning. Those villages evoke the image of isolated rural communities sheltered from the chaos, whereas Mikazuki's group feels like survivors who banded together to endure in the ruins of the city.

In the next episode, we'll finally see the resolution of Natsuki's plight; I sincerely hope she survives and stays with the group. She's worried about being unable to shoot a bow, but she can find other ways to be helpful; Yuu is only there for her knowledge, after all. I'm honestly becoming far more invested in this story than I originally expected.

Sakura faces continue to be part of the fun of the series. She's way more likeable than I expected from the weak girl we saw at the beginning

You really got pale Natsuki, please heal up and show us your smiling face again... I really don't want a bad ending for her...

When I watched the premiere and finished writing my post, I was on the fence, wondering, "Do I really want to keep watching this? It feels pretty mid." However, along with FX-Senshi Kurumi-chan, it has turned out to have enough narrative depth to make me genuinely care about the characters and their well-being. It still drops in weird comedic scenes from time to time, but that's fine.
