Episode 5 of #Zombie Sagashitemasu gives us the welcome confirmation we've been waiting two full weeks for: Natsuki is alright. She won't become a zombie and will continue on the journey alongside everyone else, even while missing an arm and still trying to regain her mobility under these new circumstances.

This episode was almost entirely about that: getting Natsuki back into shape and showing her adapting to her new life. It was painful watching Natsuki struggle as once-routine actions suddenly became complicated, but the relief of seeing her alive and well was enough to make up for anything.

One arm less, but she's still the cheerful girl that we've known to love. I'm not sure where she learned the influencer word, but still...

That suspicious face when Yuu was approaching her. Admittedly that's a good reaction, never trust the brain of the team!

The running gag of Aki hunting deer non-stop to gather meat to nurse Natsuki back to health was hilarious. At one point, Natsuki was essentially like, "Girl, there's way too much meat in our storage right now." Aki sometimes acts like a prehistoric human; I really wonder where she gets all that raw strength from...

Oh, and there was another minor character introduced in this episode: a female mechanic who helps people by repairing their vehicles. She was the key to the group securing a car identical to their previous one so they could continue their journey. It just wouldn't be the same if they were driving something else!

Did they taste it I wonder or did they blindly cooked pudding and served it without knowing it was good? You know Aki would do that... View video page

They also updated both the opening and ending animations so that Natsuki only has one arm in every single shot, which is honestly a fantastic touch. Now I feel like I need to go back and check if they made other subtle changes in earlier episodes, as they might have been tweaking them on a weekly basis.

In the next episode, we'll be back on the road. There is still plenty of time before the series wraps up, so I expect another detour on the way to Tokyo Tower. It will likely show how Natsuki handles combat with her new setup, and how Yuu takes over the bow from her.

Having a mechanic right there was a great coincidence, but I'm going to close my eyes this time. It's fine Yuu!

Fresh pudding in a post apocalyptic world, that's clearly an amazing gift for Natsuki!

I'm still a bit skeptical about Yuu's potential with archery, though. Isn't a bow an extremely strength-dependent weapon, especially if you need to fire arrows in rapid succession? Will she really be able to manage it, considering she's noticeably weaker than Sakura, who is literally a small child?
