Agnea Ch.4 Sai - Laila and the stakes

Octopath Travelers 2

Agnea's fourth chapter focuses on the city of Sai and connects directly with her mother. Agnea's mother apparently helped the city survive a crisis, and they even erected a statue of her, calling her "Mother." While there, she trained a young girl named Dolcinaea, who is the woman that appeared in the second chapter of her story before leaving. This woman became a popular superstar, and she is back now, buying up all the land with plans to destroy the city to erase her past. Agnea manages to stop her and convince her to relent for now, but the conflict is just delayed for a final showdown. All of this was connected to the introduction of Laila, a girl who begins learning to dance after meeting Agnea (sort of recreating the dynamic between Agnea's mother and Dolcinaea).

Overall, it was an enjoyable chapter, but sometimes I wonder how airheaded Agnea must be, starting to ask random people, "Do you remember a dancer from 20 years ago?" as if that is something people would definitely remember. Or when she tried to calm a fight by bursting into a dance in front of them, effectively creeping them out. Hilarious, yes, but girl... come on! It definitely lowers the stakes of the quest compared to other, much darker stories, like Temenos's.

Now, I am curious about the final battle in Chapter 5 against Dolcinaea. How is she going to fight, and how is this going to play out? Surely it cannot be just a dance-off, so there must be something else underneath, perhaps regarding the fate of Agnea's mother. What happened to her at the end of the journey?

Dolcinaea is quite a lower threat compared to everyone else in the other routes and I wonder if it still connects somehow in a single narrative in the final stages.

I wonder what Agnea Bristarni thought here by bursting into dance to try and calm Laila and the other guy. I mean sure, your dance might be good, but girl...
