Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi Vol 3,4 - Reiko? Who is Reiko?! Yomiko is adorable

Volumes 3 and 4 of Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi continue from where we left off, with the three sisters getting more serious about what to do to preserve the shrine and starting to think about their future. Honestly, it may feel a bit too early for Asahi and Yuna due to their age, but it's fine for Yae as she's already in university.

To do so, they enlist the help of Yomiko, asking her for support. Yomiko is a mother figure for the sisters as she brought them up to become the shrine maidens they are today, and she's pretty harsh with her comments as a way to make them grow. You know, we can summarize her as a tsundere, even if I'm sure she wouldn't like that.

Yuna feels the most 'connected' to the protagonist, but honestly it's so small of a lead that it probably doesn't matter as much.

Plus Yae has some HUGE qualities to match up with him. If only she wasn't a black hole when it comes to food...that must be costly

While the story arc around her is interesting, what interests me more is the fact that Uryuu is having subsequent prophetic dreams when around the three sisters, but it's not really explained if it's his power or the influence of the three sisters. Nor do we know the actual precision, because one specific dream was an interesting one that hasn't come true yet.

He dreamed of marrying all three girls, which is starting to become more and more like a possibility if you combine it with the general attitude of the girls about staying together as a family and even the allusions from other characters. I would really like that as an ending, but I guess it's too early to say anything about it.

Yomiko honestly doesn't even remotely look like the age she is supposed to be. Amazing magic there.

The series also expanded the cast a bit more, exactly in the way I was expecting, which is horizontally around the people who know the three sisters instead of blindly adding more heroines to the mix. Uryuu started going to Yuna's school (which only recently became co-ed), which connects him directly with her friends. They are still hiding the fact that they live together, but it won't last long as Mitsuko Umenoki is already suspecting.

Then we have Asahi and the circle of friends she has at school. We saw a glimpse of the dynamics of her class on parents' visit day (where Uryuu and Yae arrived), and it shows that she's very well accepted in the group, especially because she's so talented at anything she does. Of course she has her own rival in Matsugazaki Karen, a rich blonde girl, but it's still very light hearted rivalry, nothing serious.

Asahi is happy and unhappy at the same time. Jealousy arrives!

Of course the series doesn't shy away from some fanservice, but it's quite light compared to other series with the same premise. I like it, reminds me of the old days.

Last, but not least, Yae has a circle of university students she frequents and a best friend, Takeda Makoto, who seems to be hostile with Uryuu at first. Of course, being protective of Yae isn't a bad thing, because between the three, she's the one that feels the most in danger because of how clumsy she acts.

I'm still debating internally about who I like the most. Yuna seems to be the most "girlfriend"-like of the three, but I simply can't stop loving Asahi's teasing personality or Yae's "adult" allure. You know, the author did a good job when you change your favorite multiple times within the same volume.

I like how each sister has their own way of coping with shock. Here you can see Yuna in her adorable mode.

Who is Reiko? Next volume will tell us more, but the difference is so striking that it's hard to...

Finally, we get to the cliffhanger of the volume, focused around a mysterious figure named Ichijouji Reiko, a traditional Japanese-clothed woman who appeared in a flashback with Uryuu and seems to be connected to the sisters (or at least Yae). Apparently, the grandfather has been hiding this from Uryuu, but what is the exact connection between them? I guess that's something for the next volume.
