Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi Vol 9,10 - Yomiko, what was that face?! Shirahi!

Volumes 9 and 10 of Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi go on a tangent, introducing a minor heroine who shakes things up in the relationship between Uryuu and the three sisters with a wish made to the gods of this world. She's a so-called "losing heroine" because the series is all about the sisters, but looking at how she twists things is the interesting part.

Tsuruyama Shirahi is a childhood friend of Uryuu's and was with him for most of his time at the facility that took care of them in their childhood. Unlike Yae, who was with him for only one day, she's a full-fledged childhood friend heroine, and you know those are doomed unless it's a series filled exclusively with them.

Asahi got the cover this time around and she's still as mischievous as usual. I love her face.

Shirahi has the worst possible combination, she resemble Asahi with her hair length and color. That's fatal!

Of course, she's been in love with him since the first day and was carrying that love inside her without too much trouble until it was too late and she noticed that Uryuu had found a new place to belong at the shrine. Jealousy arises, starting with normal attempts to reconnect with him, before she relies on a suggestion from a god: yes, that same god who has been playing tricks up until now.

Then comes the typical storyline: the god creates a separate universe where Uryuu is Shirahi's boyfriend, but he somehow remembers everything that happened and tries to go back. The reason why he remembers is a secret, but the scene where Yomiko decides not to reveal it was so creepy that it honestly makes me wonder what's going on there.

I love how Asahi and Yuna are using Yae's chest as pillows as they act surprised. It's symbol that they're so used to it that they automatically do it.

Yes yes, I knew this was something else altogether, but for a moment...for just a moment...

Uryuu not being normal was something already hinted at in the previous volumes, but now I'm wondering if he actually has a direct connection with the gods. Just as Yomiko might, considering she was sporting the same creepy mask that the god usually uses when meeting and playing with humans.

I honestly wasn't very affected by Shirahi's love plight because her presence was "shoehorned" into the story. She was completely absent from Uryuu's life until this moment, and then all of a sudden he was the most important thing in her life. It's hard to care when a character doesn't have enough screen time to actually feel like part of the story.

The best possible end result, marriage with all three. Will we be able to get an harem ending in this series I wonder?

This was outright creepy with Yomiko declaring herself as an ally of the gods with that face. Like whoa...calm down girl...

I'm not saying she isn't cute, though; she's adorable, and I love how she switches between cheerful and gloomy depending on what happens. I'm not sure what's going to happen now that their "link" has been severed by the god, but I hope she'll reappear from time to time as a supporting character.

The volume ends with a small date between Uryuu and Asahi, which is the first step in Uryuu trying to think through his relationships with the girls. The next volume will bring a conclusion to this chapter with the second part of the dates, this time featuring Yae and Yuna. I don't expect much from those since it's still too early for Uryuu to come to any kind of conclusion regarding the romance angle, but hopefully we'll get more cute moments and nice scenes to watch.
