Kirio Fanclub Ep.09 - The truth about Nami is out! Now what?

Episode 9 of Kirio Fanclub delivers what I think everyone was already aware of to this point, but it does so in a perfect way to stir trouble between the two co-protagonists of the series, Nami and Aimi. It's the classic misunderstanding plot, but delivery is certainly important when it comes to these things.

Kirio takes a backseat in this volume, as he is depressed and avoiding contact with the girls while trying to settle his feelings. The focus instead shifts to the dynamics between the two girls, with Momose's love declaration for Nami acting as the trigger that caused the whole drama.

This scene with Aimi's imagination was outright hilarious. Was it a good image to use as thumbnail of this post? of course it is!

I'm sure that Nami thought that the fact she didn't touch it was a problem more than a blessing. You know, yuri things.

Aimi leaving right when the vital information was about to be shared is typical anime, as Aimi would have immediately remembered that Nami told her a different story when mentioning Kirio's "fall in love," which would have been easy to connect to "Nami loves someone else."

Now we have Aimi avoiding Nami, thinking that she is going to be left alone, and it is going to be hard for Nami to explain it because it would inevitably go back to the "then who do you love?" line, causing her to out herself. I'm completely unsure about where the story goes now; are they really going to make everything clear in the remaining few episodes?

Come on Aimi, you can't be leaving right at the moment where the fun stuff was about to begin. And then go and have fun with a weird monkey! View video page

We also got to see Aimi's past and how her "weirdness" caused her to be alone most of the time, but she never really minded it. She was fine, and forcing herself to be around someone just to "have a friend" was worse than the original situation in the first place.

I agree with the grandfather here: you don't make friends for the sake of making friends, but to find someone with whom you are fine sharing your weirdness. I've never really liked those massive groups where everyone is faking their way to have a "community."

The past scenes with Aimi were pretty damning and somehow I felt a bit of her feelings as I felt perfectly fine alone for a certain period of my now long lost teenager years.

It was a critical hit Nami, you shouldn't have said that. Poor Aimi had no resistance to such a line delivered with such precision.

Either way, we're in the endgame now. We probably just need an episode for Nami's past, one for Aimi and Nami's connection, and then one for Kirio's resolution. Time is running short, however, so I'm curious how they're going to handle it to smoothly complete the series.
