Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoushitsu Ep.24 - Aria x Hana? Now we're talking! Second season?!

Episode 24 of Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoshitsu completes the season with a lighthearted episode showing Claude and Spica going on a "date." I put that in quotes because he was really just accompanying her to buy a new wand, as hers broke after being used during the last test.

I wasn't that excited because, you know, I'm more of a yuri fan when it comes to this series, but whoa, did they surprise me this time around. I was expecting to have both Aria and Hana tail Spica and Claude, but I wasn't expecting them to actually bond over the chase and end up spending the afternoon together.

Did you ever expect this scene to unfold in front of your eyes? Aria and Hana at a cafe next to a couple-only drink?!

Their first reaction was 'this is danger, gotta tail them'. I love their yuri instincts and I agree they should follow it more often.

I mean, Hana is totally Spica-centered in everything she does, but my yuri-tinted glasses love the possibility of her being paired with Aria, too. Their personalities are so different that I'm not exactly sure how it would work, but life finds a way, as they say, right?

As for the actual date, well, it was a pretty typical plot where Spica disappears and, through magical means, becomes an adult for a short period of time. She helps Claude search for Spica (which of course he can't find, since she's right there), and she manages to see another side of him, less constrained by the teacher-student relationship.

There were no hints about the enemy faction trying to attack Spica again or any other subplots regarding the school, so I'm now left wondering how much was adapted from the manga and which volume I should buy first to continue the story.

Kuroneko to Majo no Kyoshitsu wasn't at the top of my most anticipated series back in March, but it managed to keep me entertained every single episode. The story felt a bit old-school in a nice way: you know, a new school, magic, new friends, and adventures, the kind of stuff that has sort of disappeared recently due to the heavy focus on isekai.

Explain yourself Spica, what happened with Claude?! You must give us all the details and then commit to never meet him again alone!

Adult Spica was nice, but apparently it's not her real adult form, just the effect of the magic. Shame as I quite like her...

The adaptation quality was top-notch, too: well-done animation, a cute yet subtly alluring art style, and well-placed fanservice scenes that never felt out of place or forced. I'll definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a solid new anime to watch in the future.
