Marriagetoxin Ep.05 - Genya's powers are weirdly specific. Shiori!
Episode 5 of Marriagetoxin continues the Ureshino Shiori story arc, focusing more on the action and showcasing the skills of Genya Naruko. I have to say, they are far less "magical" than I expected them to be, especially considering the previous episode showed him crushing an entire room in seconds.
Everything is based on sound and requires a lot of prep work, such as setting up devices, strings, and other amenities, which brings a new level of practicality to it. I mean, sure, the giant and the strings of power attacking Gero were outlandish, but at least they try not to make it purely "magical power."

The entire episode was action-packed, and I am honestly surprised by how well the action scenes were animated. Momentum was maintained throughout the episode, leaving me basically no time to be bored despite there being no significant advancement in the main plot. That is a great thing when it comes to these more shonen series.
Shiori continues to be a rather plain heroine, but that's not a problem by itself. She has been designed to fit into that position, and she is doing it quite well. I still think she is not really marriage material for Gero, or anyone else for that matter. Her age may be right, but her personality still feels too childish.
So far, we have had the cool Kyouko and the timid Shiori. I guess next in line we need someone less reserved and more forward with her approaches to Gero? There is a woman named Kimie Arashiyama in the credits who appears in the opening, has pink hair, and looks more outgoing, so I wonder if she is next.
The next episode, titled "Together with me," will feature the conclusion of the battle against Genya and the addition of Shiori to the list of possible marriage partners for Gero. I'm honestly curious about how Shiori is going to take the whole thing, because she is hardly of age to marry.

Is she going to be more about "let's start by dating," or more keen on the whole idea? She seems very timid and leaning toward the first option, but you know you can never trust the timid ones, as they usually end up doing the boldest things in anime. It's a trope at this point.
