Nikke 2X2 Love - CGs were absolutely amazing. Privaty! Arcana!
Love is in the air with the new Nikke event called 2x2 Love. It has been a while since we last discussed Nikke, but I have continued playing, and this event provided the perfect opportunity to return to it. This event features something I have genuinely never seen done in any other gacha game.
The main story follows the usual structure of 10 to 15 sequential scenes, but the highlight this time is the accompanying minigame. Once you have finished the main story, which you can do immediately by spending 200 crystals for extra entries, a visual novel minigame is unlocked.

In this mode, you play just as you would in an old-school visual novel, making multiple choices. Some decisions actually branch the story, while others offer minor flavor differences. The story uses a flowchart that allows you to track the various paths and see what is required to unlock more content.
This is a feature often overlooked in many visual novels, and it is extremely useful when you want to see what is left without consulting a walkthrough. Some might think it diminishes the exploration factor, but in this day and age, I believe convenience is more important.

There are various items to unlock through specific choices, which in turn allow you to select new options during pivotal moments to reach different branches. So far, I have only seen the True and Normal endings for Arcana and Privaty, but there are still many darkened CGs remaining in the gallery.
This leads me to assume there is much more I have not explored yet, though I wonder if some content is reserved for a second part of the event in a few weeks. I will return to the game after publishing this post to see if I can unlock more, and perhaps I will share an update in the notes section of the website.

The main heroines of this story are Privaty and Arcana. Privaty takes on the role of a teacher at the school (coworker of protagonist), while Arcana becomes a student. This creates a great distinction in the types of romance you can experience within the minigame.
Do you want a more mature relationship with Privaty, perhaps sharing a beer as coworkers? Or do you prefer the more taboo dynamic of being a teacher involved with a student like Arcana? The game offers something for everyone, and the scenes themselves are quite well-produced.
You can reach the True Endings for both main heroines within a few hours of focused play. While this is on the short side for a visual novel, there are still many segments I have not yet unlocked, which could easily double that time. I'm just curious about what kind of scenes we're going to get there.
My only complaint is that only key romantic scenes are voiced rather than the entire event. This sometimes breaks the immersion when the audio switches in and out of the full voice acting. In this era, all gacha games should really feature full voice acting, yet some older titles still use partial voice acting to save on costs.

Overall, I think this has been a fantastic event. I cannot wait to go back and unlock more CGs of these amazing heroines. Hopefully, this event will be well-received by everyone and may lead to future spin-offs using this same game system in different settings.
