Nikke PROJECT MATIS Part 2 - Syuen, I still feel she was right... Maxwell!

PROJECT MATIS Part 2 was released today. It went pretty much as I expected, but I still enjoyed every single moment of it. The final outcome was known, with Syuen becoming the bratty, annoying kid that we knew from the main story, but we had to see the path that led there.

Maxwell’s death, even if indirectly self-inflicted, must have been the trigger; it all led there due to a mix of misunderstandings and bad parenting. She committed many bad actions, but I don't think she is the only one to blame; the entire Ark, as a system, is beyond saving.

In the end only Laplace remained, but I still want to see Syuen growing up and creating a more close relationship with the Matis Squad. She deserve affection and love.

Laplace was ultra cool in her hero form. I'm not usually that much of a fan of superheroes, but Laplace is different.

We've seen it in the main story, and despite the writer pushing the protagonist as the savior, all we've seen is that everything else inside the Ark is just a cesspool of irredeemable corruption. I don't see a way for it to be solved without some jokingly ridiculous deus ex machina.

I also honestly don't understand Maxwell's stance of "don't kill" regarding Syuen. The directors killed many and were ready to do more just to stop Syuen's progress; bringing them to justice in the Ark? It would have just ended, at worst, with house arrest. Their deaths only helped reduce, even if by a little, the overall Ark "scum-meter."

Imagine having to nearly see your family die, Syuen's life truly sucks and it's all her father fault.

Hero to the rescue, it didn't last long though sadly. But it did look cool during the rescue.

Also, leaving Syuen completely alone was an extremely bad choice by Maxwell; what did she expect, considering she courted Jien? Staying next to her was the best choice to try and rein her in; Syuen craved her attention, and she could have easily swayed her away with some authority. Instead, she picked the obvious route that led to her death. I'm not impressed by her intelligence, considering she was a researcher.

I really liked Laplace too, and now I see why Syuen sees in her the hero she always longed for. Let's be honest: there's no doubt that Laplace embodies the very concept of the idealistic hero more than any other character I've seen in the story so far.

Maxwell loved Syuen, but I think there were other ways to handle this, better ways. People really need to start learning how to talk.

This time around, the hero Nikke answered to her call. Differently from how the Nikke treated Laplace back then.

Jien, instead, is a character I don't really understand yet. She does heinous things, but I don't think she hates Syuen; she actually cares for her, even if in her own twisted way. She wants to know the truth behind the whole NYMPH system, and I can see why. It's been obvious to me from the beginning that Raptures are just the result of a bad experiment trying to create a weapon, and Nikkes are just a byproduct. It's hard to see why nobody even doubts it in-world.

Now, back to the usual: I really need to catch up on the main story as I'm quite a few chapters behind. Hopefully, this great event will propel me forward to reach the final chapter and get up to date with the story. I want to see if they actually make Syuen fully switch sides to become more mellow and bond with Matis...
