Seihantai na Kimi to Boku Ep.09 - Birthday celebrations! Sneaky Miyu.
Episode 9 of the anime series Seihantai na Kimi to Boku (You and I Are Polar Opposites) returns its focus to the main couple's romance with an episode entirely dedicated to birthdays, specifically Tani's, and how these are celebrated at school by fellow classmates.
I can relate to Tani's feelings a bit because you never know what the other person is expecting in terms of reactions when these events occur. Back in my high school days, which were long, long ago at this point, we did the same thing, but mostly for 18th birthdays. I remember that year being a continuous celebration because every month had a few birthdays, and the festivities often expanded outside the classroom.

The episode covers various standard birthday events for a couple: a gift, a call, and then a date. The date was meticulously planned by Tani to try and impress Suzuki, but fate ends up playing games with him, creating situations that inevitably make his plans derail, like the restaurant scene I attached to this post.
Miyu, of course, did not mind at all because, in the end, all that mattered was spending time with the person she loves. She even delivered a kiss at the very end of the episode and, honestly, good job Miyu, because if you had waited for him to make a move, you would have died of old age.
We get some minor development between Shino and Taira in this episode as well, but these were relegated to side moments, showing us a cute scene from back when Taira's birthday passed and Shino gifted him a sticker. Apparently, he still keeps it near him.
I said it last week and I will repeat it now: these two are the best couple in the series, and I really want to see more of them. I know that the manga is complete with eight volumes, but I am not sold enough on the series as a whole to jump into it right now due to time constraints.

I wonder how far into the manga adaptation we are right now. There are only three episodes remaining in this adaptation, with the last episode airing on March 29, 2026. Will we be able to see the actual ending, or will they deliver an incomplete conclusion to try and lead people to the manga instead?
