Seihantai na Kimi to Boku Ep.12 - It didn't feel like an ending at all.

Episode 12 of the anime series Seihantai na Kimi to Boku (You and I Are Polar Opposites) concludes the series with an episode focused on Nishi and Yamada, and Miyu and Yuusuke. It was such a standard episode that I am honestly still wondering if this is actually the finale or if I misunderstood the show's schedule somehow.

The first half featured Nishi and Yamada on their first date. There were plenty of cute moments, but nothing particularly major occurred. I laughed when Nishi realized she had almost never looked directly at Yamada’s face until now because of her shyness. She really needs to try to understand the person she is going out with.

Shino, where did you go in this episode? I was waiting for more developments on your side?!

The date ended abruptly at a pivotal moment because they discovered Miyu and Yuusuke in the same location and fled. It was a shame because they were holding hands and were clearly on the path to becoming an official couple with just a bit more uninterrupted time.

The second half focused on Miyu and Yuusuke’s date, which I found to be quite boring and filled with "been there, done that" tropes. At the very least, it did not feel impactful enough to serve as a series finale. They came close to kissing, but they were interrupted at the worst possible moment by their parents.

Talk about coincidence with them choosing the exact same places all over the date. Did Yuusuke and Yamada actually talk about it or something? It was incredible. View video page

While I enjoyed the initial premise, Miyu and Yuusuke turned out to be a disappointment in terms of the actual events that occurred throughout the series. I never found myself invested in their relationship and often paid more attention to the supporting characters instead. Perhaps it is because they were already a couple at the start of the series? It can be difficult to create a compelling storyline once that initial hurdle is already cleared.

Overall, I think Seihantai na Kimi to Boku was a good series, but the developments were sometimes too predictable and it didn't manage to leave a striking impact on me. I started to lose interest in most of the groups halfway through the run. My interest in Taira and Azuma was the only thing carrying me through.

Back to the normal life hanging around Miyu's desk talking about nothing important.

It did feel a bit too normal to the point that the ending was not really one. Aoi and Manami always great.

Unfortunately, that relationship went nowhere by the end, leaving me with a "should I or shouldn't I" feeling about picking up the manga. There is a chance I may do so in the future, but it is a low priority compared to the other manga series in my queue.
