Sousou no Frieren Season 2 Ep.07 - Winged Genau was quite cool!

Episode 7 of Sousou no Frieren Season 2 (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End) continues the Revolte story arc with developments that are quite rapid for this series. We are introduced to the demons the group will be facing this time, and it is not just Revolte himself; there appear to be three others with him. Two seems quite powerful while one looks exactly like a child.

Revolte's plan was to wait for the group to divide so they would be easier prey. He deliberately killed many humans without eating them, knowing this would force the survivors to protect the city and split into multiple groups. This demonstrates a level of strategic planning far beyond that of the typical demons we have encountered so far.

The revelation moment was quite cool, but what does exactly this magic does aside from flying? Uses feathers as weapons?

Serie expression is like 'guys, just get along' with that unimpressed face.

The brief scene of the four demons talking really put into perspective how much they look and behave like humans. I know they are monsters that mimic humans, but I would be hard-pressed not to view them as just another race with different mentalities and priorities.

The group eventually splits, leaving Frieren, Methode, and Fern to travel while Genau and Stark defend the city and the remaining corpses. There is little to worry about on Frieren's side, as she is confident that Fern can handle the enemy on her own without any need for her to intervene.

Fern initially just sulked, but then decided to picks things into her hands. Nobody is going to take away her Frieren! No one! View video page

The situation is more dire for Genau's group because Revolte himself is attacking, and Stark feels he cannot easily protect Genau. Genau remains unfazed, however, and reveals his special wings at the very end of the episode. While the full extent of his power remains unknown, we can guess that the wings grant him great mobility and will likely be used for attacks, perhaps using the feathers.

I want to specifically highlight the comedic scene (see the video) where Fern sulks because Methode was patting Frieren's head and hugging her. I love how Fern treats Frieren like a treasure and becomes jealous when anyone else gets close to her. She would never admit it, but I believe that deep down, she views Frieren as a mother figure.

Method looks beautiful, but her personality is a huge gap to be honest. I mean I like it, but...

I mean, I would be surprised if he did. Or anyone did, doesn't seem like something you do that often...

The next episode is titled "A Magnificent End," a line spoken by Genau himself. I wonder if he is referring to his former comrade or someone else. I am also curious if the small demon that appeared with Revolte will play a significant role in the upcoming battle. Given what happened to Genau's previous partner, perhaps she will be used as bait to provoke him into protecting her, assuming that tactic would even work on him.
