Sousou no Frieren Season 2 Ep.09 - Himmel's memoirs. A flight of dragons?
Episode 9 of Sousou no Frieren Season 2 (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End) delivers a relatively fast-paced episode divided into two interconnected segments. The first part features Frieren and the others fighting a flight of dragons to protect a village.
This is the first time we see so many dragons in one place, which provides even more hints about how dangerous the North of this world is. The battle itself was not very long because these were relatively small dragons compared to the one Stark fought in the previous season, but the animation still delivered the usual high quality we have come to expect.

The second part involves retrieving the memoirs of Himmel from a nearby island to pay for a ferry. The moment Frieren looked through the book, reminiscing about her time together with Himmel and the others, was quite emotional. I wonder what Frieren was feeling in those moments. Was it sadness, longing, or perhaps pain?
What was that figure briefly shown for a second in Frieren's memories while she was on the ferry? It depicted a tall, demon-like figure, and I wonder if that is the true identity of the Demon King the Hero Party fought at the end of their journey. There has always been a veil of mystery around the Demon King, specifically regarding his identity and personality. Flamme said that only Frieren could fight against him, but the specific reason why remains a mystery.
We know that most high-ranking demons are quite intelligent, as seen with Revolte and Aura, so I wonder what the leader of the demons actually thought of the Hero Party and of humans in general. That will likely only be covered near the end of the manga, as it feels like an important detail to explore.
The next episode is the final one of this second season and is titled "A Beautiful Sight". Judging from the voices heard in the preview, we are going to see something beautiful that the Hero Party encountered on their journey and thought would be wonderful for humanity to see as well.

I am honestly stoked for the continuation and a potential next season, but at the same time, I am worried because the series is on an indefinite hiatus due to the health issues of the creators, following several smaller hiatuses. I wish a quick and full recovery for everyone involved.
