Wuthering Waves 3.6 - Spectacular and boring at the same time. Qingxiao!
Patch 3.6 of
Mengzhou is by far the most beautiful zone in the game and a testament to how much the art and music teams have improved over the years. Between the scenery, the arrangements, and the well-designed locations in both the gameplay and story sections, everything is greatly arranged to deliver maximum excitement.

The real problem goes back to the story, which continues down the same path laid out in the previous patch, overly praising the "courage" of the Mengzhou people and their heroes. It doesn't help that Muyu as an antagonist is plain and isn't remotely as interesting as Cristoforo or Phrolova. He was one-dimensional and barely even appeared in the story itself.
The characters are another point of contention for me because their designs feel too "grand" while following standard "beautiful lady" patterns that leave me feeling detached from them. Qingxiao is beautiful, no doubt about it, but her design feels generic and boring at the same time.

I had the same feeling about Suisui last patch, as neither character gives me the same sense of curiosity that I had with Lynae or Mornye. I wanted to know who Lynae was and how she would participate in the story, or why Mornye's legs were prosthetic. I don't feel anything about either Suisui or Qingxiao aside from a fleeting, "Oh, they're kind of beautiful," which really doesn't amount to much.
I understand this is supposed to be a detour in the journey before going to the new location (New Federation), but at the same time, I would've preferred them padding the academy storyline instead of delivering a subpar plot. To be honest, I'd rather they forget that Jinzhou even exists because all we've had so far is snorefest after snorefest.

After six hours of this, I had to take a break, and I'll read the segue quest for Jingran tomorrow. I don't know how to feel about him yet since he only appeared in a very few scenes, but hopefully the segue quest will give me a reason to care once his banner drops in a few weeks.
Now the real wait is for the next patch, which will feature the much-awaited Hsin, the Sentinel of this region. She seems to be in distress and will definitely need our help to return to her duties. The question is, what or who is actually hurting her? Is it the Fractsidus overseer that was mentioned in this patch?
