Yuusha-kei ni Shosu Ep.06 - Wait, Holy Sword? Where did I hear that again...
Episode 6 of Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004 completes the story arc with the inevitable defeat of the Demon Lord, but not before providing many new revelations about the world setting and the various factions clashing in this strange war.
The battle was quite intense, and we saw some incredible animation during the fight. The highlight was, of course, Teoritta pulling out a holy sword to defeat the Demon Lord at the end, but I was also impressed by Tatsuya's ability to dispatch the enemies. I wonder how much stronger he was back when he still had his memories.

The most important revelation is that there are humans who actively help the Demon Lords, and they have positioned themselves in a faction that seems to be striving to "co-exist" with them. This is revealed by an extremely suspicious individual at the very end of the episode, who adds that many people are currently observing Xylo.
That makes sense, as he is actively killing Demon Lords left and right, which completely opposes their goal of trying to co-exist. I suspect the decision to try to kill the hero during this suicide mission to protect the keep was made by someone with close ties to that faction.
We also received an interesting revelation: the Goddesses cannot fight against humans under any circumstances, even if those humans are helping the Demon Lords. This was intentionally designed by whoever built them long ago. I understand the logic, as they are effectively super-weapons, and it would be problematic if they were turned into tools to invade other countries. I wonder how it works, though. What if a Goddess uses an indirect method to kill a human? For instance, what if she cuts down a tree that then falls on a person?
We also got to see the face of the original Goddess who worked with Xylo in the past, and she looked extremely similar to Teoritta. So far, all three Goddesses who have been introduced are small girls, and it is starting to seem more like a pattern than a coincidence. I wonder if there is a plot reason for this, or if it is merely fanservice.

Now, we are back at the drawing board. What will be the focus of next week's episode? The show itself doesn't have a preview segment, so we are left to speculate. Now that the partnership between Teoritta and Xylo is fully established, I expect things to escalate further, but who will make the first move?
