Yuusha no Kuzu Ep.12 - Indou Yukine has completely fallen!
Episode 12 of Yuusha no Kuzu (勇者のクズ) slows its pace to offer an interesting look at the current state of the world while preparing for the next arc. The story picks up immediately after the battle between Yashiro, Aki, and Levi, which concluded with an overwhelming victory for our heroes.
The first surprise arrives when Aki almost instantly regenerates the eye she lost during the enemy's attack. Such a feat is supposed to be impossible even with the help of E3. While Aki appears to know nothing about it, this development leaves Yashiro puzzled regarding her true origins. Is she even fully human at this point?

My primary theory is that she is the only successful subject of E4 who did not transform into a monstrosity, meaning she is likely not the biological daughter of Yashiro's teacher. He probably found her in a laboratory during a past mission and decided to raise her. However, why is the bar owner being so secretive about talking of his past?
We also learn about Yukine's backstory. It turns out she was part of a military unit where encountering the kind of abominations seen in the last episode was common. She describes it as being as routine as encountering a bear. During her service, she lost a dear friend who died protecting her from an attack. That loss drove her to swear that she would become strong enough to protect others in the future.
Yashiro finds himself connecting with her mindset and decides to be gentler, even asking for her support in the upcoming mission in Hokkaido. This request, combined with the free food he provided, caused Yukine to completely soften up, and she became much more affectionate toward him than usual. Has she finally fully accepted her role in the harem?
I laughed when Aki and Sera appeared and watched in total shock as Yukine hugged Yashiro and received a head pat. While the main plot is compelling, I am also deeply invested in the relationships between the four main characters. Aki is clearly the main heroine, but the others are certainly catching up.

The next episode appears to return to training mode as the girls strive to reach a higher level and become more useful to Yashiro. After that, they will head to Hokkaido. I wonder who this priest is that everyone seems so unhappy about meeting? Additionally, what is the connection between all of this and the Half Dragon plotline?
