ZZZ 2.6 Story - Sunna, Aria and Nangong Yu! Youkai vs Fairy.
ZZZ's idol-centered patch 2.6 has been released, and it was quite a blast to play through today, even if it was admittedly quite long to complete in one sitting (over 7 hours). The story continues right from where we left off in the previous patch, with Youkai (one of the other AIs aside from Fairy) still plotting something.
Belle starts to get more involved with the Angel of Delusions group (Sunna, Aria, and Nangong Yu) and their struggle to rise to popularity. The main focus of the entire patch leaned more toward Aria compared to the other two idols because she is an Intelligent Construct. As we know from previous patches, she has to pass the "Forbidden Fruit Test" to be treated the same as a human.

Due to the stress of performing, Aria starts to lose control of herself, a situation exacerbated by Youkai's meddling. Eventually, there is a fallout ending with a big boss fight to restrain her. Everything is eventually resolved (I won't go into deep spoilers), and Aria is back to being the idol we love.
They did a good job introducing the idols, and I was honestly surprised once I heard Sunna's voice in Japanese. I was expecting more of a child-like idol voice, but when she started talking with that strong accent, it only made me like her even more. Plus, the idols seem to have animations that coordinate with each other even in battle.

I heard about them dancing when idle, but even in battle, some of the animations are replaced when you have multiple idols in the team. I wish they would do this more often. I remember they did it upon release (Koleda and Ben come to mind), but I don't remember anyone new having something similar.
The struggle between Youkai and Fairy showed how much of a threat these AIs are to the Proxy and how easily they can control the narrative. Technically, Youkai referred to Fairy as the "strongest AI," but I wonder if that still applies or if it was something valid back when Fairy wasn't aligned with the Proxy.

I haven't checked in English, but JP Fairy was unvoiced this patch. This is kind of a bummer considering that it was one of the first patches in recent history that actually had quite a few lines for her. I wonder if it is just some temporary problem with the voice artist or if they are planning a recasting.
The patch ends with two women (seen in the third screenshot of this article) talking about the outcome of the recent few patch events. They seem to be happy that the "Creator" didn't manage to descend, but they seem antagonistic toward Ye Shunguang and the city itself.

No info about them has been given so far, but I assume this is a lead to guide us toward the 3.x patch series, which is going to start in three patches (should be around mid-late May 2026). The next patch (2.7) will wrap up the idols' story (Nangong Yu will get released alongside the unrelated gal, Cissia).
I am honestly looking forward to seeing if they can go back to the usual urban fantasy vibes of the series and tone down the whole magic aspect that was added in this zone by Yixuan. Belle being on the ground is fine, I guess, but let's try to keep the sci-fi setting as the focus.
