Champignon no Majo Ep.12 - Ending was beautiful. Good luck Lize!
Episode 12 of Champignon no Majo completes the series with quite a beautiful ending, closing the first chapter of Lize's story and starting a new one together with Luna. As expected from last week's episode, there was not enough time to provide a proper conclusion to the narrative, so the decision was made for Lize to accept this as a starting point.
Lize is still in love with Luna but realizes he is not even on her radar because she is still in love with Henri, regardless of how many years have passed. After a genuine talk with the Wind Magician, he realizes he was being childish and decides to temporarily set aside his feelings so he can continue staying with Luna.

The plan is that he will continue to lose his size and memories until he is strong enough to protect Luna and use the love he has for her, which is stored in the multiform mushroom, as fuel to make his magic stronger. After all, the magic of White Witches relies on love, unlike that of the Black Witches.
Luna's feelings apparently have not changed at all since the last time she met Henri, and this is causing her magic to weaken. This is going to become a problem going forward, and I wonder how they can solve it without deleting her memories, which would be quite cruel.
I was genuinely surprised by how much the Wind Magician developed in this episode. He moved away from his comedic persona and began to show his vulnerable side. The interesting part is that he did this to help Lize grow up. Additionally, his real name is apparently Gustave.
The Bird Magician continues to be a mysterious figure because he has technically infiltrated the society of the White Witches while being a Black Witch himself. I do not know exactly what he is planning, but he is certainly going to be a central figure going forward. I am curious about the reasons why he took Henri under his tutelage. Was it because of Luna?

Overall, the series has been good, but I feel it did not live up to the hype the first two episodes generated for me. Lize is a good character, but as a child, he sometimes came across as annoying and difficult to relate to. Luna was a star throughout the series, but unfortunately, she cannot carry the show alone. I do not plan to read the manga at this stage, though perhaps I will in the future.
