Kirio Fanclub Ep.04 - Kirio's past was surprising. Now what about Nami?

Episode 4 of Kirio Fanclub continues to surprise me, with the series drifting straight into drama territory to the point that I'm not even sure what I'm watching anymore. In a positive sense, of course; the curveballs were well-delivered, and I was totally unprepared for them.

The episode picks up where we left off, with Nami and Aimi managing to get Kirio's phone number and navigating how to talk to him, what kind of message would be good and competing over who get their answer first. Nami was nonchalant in messaging him, while Aimi was frantic, but both managed to do just fine.

Nami's eraser with her feeling. I can understand her, there have been many times where I wanted to freeze time.

The initial shift in mood was felt during the discussion between Manda and Nami about how she treasures these moments, her and Aimi having fun together, more than their goal, Kirio. It continues to scream to me that Nami is really not interested in Kirio at all and is just using him as an excuse to be around Aimi.

Then the bomb dropped. We see the first real meeting between Aimi and Kirio in a hospital room; she saw him smiling and laughing in front of a girl (not seen on screen) and fell in love at first sight. The issue is that it didn't last, because eventually the girl (probably Kirio's girlfriend) died, and Aimi ended up witnessing Kirio breaking down in tears.

Aimi's reaction felt like the world came crushing on her all at once. She was overexcited and didn't expect to see Kirio in that state at all. View video page

Honestly, I can't really relate to the plight of Kirio or the girl that died because I simply don't know them, but Aimi's mental state after witnessing the scene? That I can totally relate to; it must have felt terrible to witness the grief of the person she was in love with.

Aimi's eraser text is "I want Kirio-kun’s smile back," which is her real objective here; she wants to see him with that smile that made her fall for him back then. On the other hand, Nami's eraser says "May now continue forever," which is likely a reference to the relationship she has with Aimi and her wish for it to persist.

Nami is instead extremely difficult to move when it comes to expressions which makes me wonder if she'll break down when it eventually happens.

Manda's lines and Nami's response were both on line in explaining the complicated way some relationships go from time to time.

Nami is definitely the character I like the most so far. She is building a wall of lies to try and keep things going, but I'm worried about what will happen once all the lies crumble and her true self is revealed to Aimi. Will she be accepted or rejected? What will happen to their friendship?
