Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru Ep.04 - Resha was quite a fun princess

Episode 4 of Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru (魔術師クノンは見えている) continues from where we left off with an episode entirely dedicated to the Royal Magicians. Thanks to his father's connections, Kunon manages to secure a small test with them to see if he is worth teaching.

The test was a success. The magicians were extremely interested in Kunon's ability with water magic, both for his unique application of it (like the mattress-like object he conjured, which you can see in the attached video) and the fact that he managed to steal two water balls from a much more experienced magician.

That's the face of someone who is having lots of fun with magic.

I still think Iko is the best character of the series so far. So much fun.

We also get the introduction of Mirika's older sister, Resha. She is a princess who pretty much gave up on the line of succession to focus entirely on being a magician. Honestly, considering what she said about the throne succession being a matter of skill in this country, it is best to get out of the race early rather than get stabbed later on.

This is likely also a warning because as Kunon becomes stronger, Mirika's position at court automatically improves being his fiancee. Should he become a powerful magician, she could even end up among the top runners for the throne or at least in a position of power within the country.

They also introduced the magic elements, which are Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, Dark, and Demon. The first six are classic, but the last one is a bit unusual to see in a typical fantasy magic system. Is it something that humans can handle, or is it a magic that only demons can use?

Magicians are also divided into a star system that determines the amount of mana they can muster. Kunon and Resha are 2-star magicians, while the head magician is 4 stars. Apparently, there is no limitation to what magic you can use based on the stars; it depends purely on how much mana you have available.

She has normal face too and I can see some similarity with Mirika.

The best supporters of Kunon. I wonder if we'll get a time skip at some point and see older Mirika...

Judging from the small preview we got, the next episode will be focused on introducing a new character who is Kunon's new magic teacher. He seems to be a "pretty boy" type of character, and it appears he fell in love at first sight with the mattress built by Kunon. I am curious to see what personality he has.

This anime series is proving quite interesting, and I am looking forward to seeing where it takes us. I may pick up the light novels in the future just to see where Kunon's story leads.
