Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru Ep.06 - Kunon finally can see! Wait, what's that crab?

Episode 6 of Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru (魔術師クノンは見えている) concludes the second training arc with the triumph of Kunon's efforts. He successfully builds artificial eyes, external to his body, that allow him to see for the first time instead of relying on magic to perceive his surroundings as he has done until now.

The story continues with the training Zeonly prepared for Kunon, which essentially boils down to "help me with my research and you will gain experience along the way". Zeonly puts up a rough front, but he is actually much less intimidating once you get to know him. "Male tsundere" is probably the best way to describe him.

Imagine being ultra excited as it's the first time you see and there's a huge crab nobody told you about right in your room...

This was ultra cute, Mirika was clearly trying hard to push Kunon, but at the same time in pain inside for him leaving.

They spend two years working together (yes, there is another time skip here) as Kunon quickly grows up, both as a person and as a magician. It seems there is a magic school far away that every talented person can attend once they reach 12 years of age. All the royal magicians have graduated from there.

Kunon is now 12 years old, and he is about to embark on a new journey of learning. At the same time, Mirika is working hard, just as predicted, to be a wife worthy of Kunon's progress. You can see her training with a sword against the guard protecting her, and she has apparently been studying other subjects as well. These two surely make a great couple, though it is a shame she will likely be sidelined for a while once school starts.

Iko and Kunon could easily live off just doing comedy routine on the streets. I can't get enough of their interactions. View video page

There is not much time remaining if this is a single-cour series (admittedly, I haven't checked online), so I am a bit puzzled about him leaving for school right now. There would only be about six episodes left to introduce a whole new cast of characters and develop a plot with them.

Regarding Kunon's new eyes, it seems like something is off about them. It is not that they don't work, but my speculation is that they work too well and can see more than normal eyes can. Specifically, it seems he can see spirits and supernatural entities. Considering no one has mentioned these entities so far, I assume Kunon is the first person who has actually managed to interact with them.

Iko continues to be the source of the most funny scene of the series.

Kunon's mom is very similar to Mirika. *start to suspect Kunon*

There is a huge crab in Kunon's room at the end of the episode, along with wings on his brother, a large horn like a unicorn on Iko's head, and a pen stabbed into Mirika's head. Now, it is going to be fun to see how he explains to her that he can see such an oddity right on her head.
