Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru Ep.08 - Rinko is Iko's sister? She's quite fun too.
Episode 8 of Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru (魔術師クノンは見えている) follows Iko and Kunon on their long journey toward the academy. It delivers an unexpected separation as Iko leaves Kunon to pursue marriage, while her younger sister, Rinko, joins the group as his new personal maid.
To be honest, it didn't feel like a major change since Rinko is essentially a younger version of Iko in both appearance and personality. She is playful, energetic, and often quite wild. She might be a bit more easygoing, but that is likely because she hasn't spent as many years by Kunon's side as Iko has.

The scenes in this episode portrayed Iko as a mother figure to Kunon much more than his actual mother. Don't misunderstand me; his mother is a good person who clearly cares for him, but she seemed distant in most of their interactions compared to Iko, who was almost always by his side.
For Kunon, this represents a complete departure from his normal life, as he has effectively lost contact with everyone he knew until now. This includes his parents, Mirika, Iko, and the various teachers who worked with him. He is on his own now, though I am sure Rinko won't let him get bored. Plus, there is a whole group of new students to meet.
He has already caught the attention of the Saint after she saw the fox he created out of water, and I am certain she will be a recurring character who interacts with him. We can't really predict much about her personality yet, since we have only seen her "public face" around others that seem like a serious kind.
If past experience is anything to go by, she will likely be a weirdo like every other mage we have met so far. I don't think a single mage in this story could be considered completely normal yet. The real question is exactly what form her eccentricity will take.

Judging from the short preview, the next episode will focus on the entrance exam for the academy. All the various students will show off their best magic to gain access to the "advanced class," where they will have a better chance of learning something new. While it is certain that Kunon will qualify, I am curious to see what the other students, especially the Saint, will present as their strongest magic.
