Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru Ep.09 - Centlance Reyes is the saint! What was that witch?

Episode 9 of Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru (魔術師クノンは見えている) begins a new arc by introducing a slew of new characters. These include fellow classmates of Kunon, such as the Saint Centlance Reyes (a three-star Light attribute magician), as well as faculty members like Beat Hank (who seems to have been close to Zeonly) and the mysterious Louva Gray.

Events in the episode unfolded much as I expected. Kunon immediately latched onto the Saint to try and get more information about her magic, which was definitely in character. I can see the two of them becoming close friends in the future. The Saint seems to have the classic "people always see me with different eyes" complex, causing her to distrust anyone who approaches her.

For once Kunon's magical eye sees someone in a reasonable / understandable way. A Saint would obviously have a light aura...

It did come as provoking here, but she said it's because of the curse of the demon lord. I wonder if she'll always be like this or...

Considering her role, she is likely under immense stress regarding how people perceive her. I am sure she will enjoy Kunon’s company, as he is completely devoid of interest in anything non-magical. Her status and power are entirely unimportant to him, which makes him a perfect ally.

The "test" was passed easily, and it seems the entire advanced class is more of a "research freely and submit a report" setup. It is more akin to a post-graduate university course than a traditional school. This is actually better, as it provides more freedom for the characters to get involved in various interesting situations.

There's no doubt that Kunon is going to grow to become a troublemaker, especially with the way he approach girls. Poor Mirika, she doesn't know what she got into. View video page

Kunon is definitely going to need more partners, though. If his goal is to build new and interesting magic, he will need access to other elements, as there is a limit to what one can do purely with water. The other two students with Fire and Wind attributes seem like great candidates, but I am sure there will be more.

There was an interesting scene (attached here as a video) showing the mysterious Louva Gray, apparently the leader of this academy and one of the most powerful magicians of all time being impressed about Kunon's eye. She seems to confirm that Kunon's eye is trying to see more than what normal people can see.

Watching Rinko really gives that I'm back home feel. She's really Kunon's anchor.

Judging from the short preview segment, it seems the next episode will continue the introduction of new characters, adding at least five more to the cast. The episode appears to be Saint-focused, as the title is "The Saint's Financial Problem," and I am curious to understand what that means.

Surely the Saint wouldn't have any financial issues considering the support she should receive from her country, unless, of course, there are specific conditions attached to her admission to the school. Perhaps it is something like "you can only use money you earn yourself" or something along those lines.
