A few minutes ago, I finished watching the first episode of the newly airing anime series Seihantai na Kimi to Boku (正反対な君と僕). It is an adaptation of a manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Agasawa Koucha, which is complete with eight volumes released between 2021 and 2024.
The story follows Miyu Suzuki, a high school gal with pink hair who sits next to the quiet and direct Yuusuke Tani. Their personalities couldn't be more different; she reads the room, is extremely energetic, and her emotions appear immediately on her face. Tani is silent, always says exactly what he thinks when asked, and does not care what others think.

Miyu is clearly in love with him, but he seems oblivious to her attempts to make small talk. The first episode is told mostly from Miyu's point of view, showing her interactions with him and the other students in her class. It ends directly with the two... essentially becoming a couple?
I mean, it isn't said out loud, but they both confessed to each other, so that is it, isn't it? They sealed the deal! I guess the next few episodes will involve the two trying to find their boundaries, as they are pretty new to the whole romance situation, especially considering they do not want to be teased by their classmates.
I cannot say I am a fan of Miyu's character design or looks (honestly, I like Shino more if I had to choose), but she is definitely the driving force behind the entire first episode and probably the rest of the series as well. Her personality is so much fun to watch, and her overreactions to various events are hilarious.
Judging from the opening animation, the other characters also get their own share of romance, which is good for variety. The series is labeled as comedy/romance, but there isn't a drama tag, so I guess there is not much to worry about aside from maybe a scene or two near the end.

The visual style and animation are top-tier within this season so far. It has a strong "shoujo" style without actually being too bubbly. On the seiyuu side, Suzushiro Sayumi is an amazing pick for Miyu's role, and it is nice to see she is getting more and more main roles in recent seasons.
The only worry I have is that series where the couple is formed right at the beginning can get boring in the long run, as they often lack any sort of "obstacle" to their relationship or anything to work on. However, this may be less of a problem for an anime with only 12 episodes.

I am looking forward to watching more of this next week. If Miyu keeps delivering this level of comedy going forward, then I am all set for it!
