Seihantai na Kimi to Boku Ep.03 - Shino and Shuuji. I can see that working out...

Episode 3 of the anime series Seihantai na Kimi to Boku (正反対な君と僕) finally starts to move the focus away from the main couple (Suzuki and Tani) to look at the other classmates around them. This week, it was time for Azuma Shino (a close friend of Suzuki) and Taira Shuuji to get the spotlight.

It seems like the two were classmates in middle school, so they share some memories (Shino pointed out that Shuuji made a "high school debut" by changing his looks). Shino is the typical high schooler who likes "bad boys" and ends up getting burned more often than not, by her own admission. She does feel jealous of a relationship with someone stable like Tani, but she doesn't find it appealing at the same time.

That's very dangerous forward looking Shino, wake up before it's too late!

Shuuji was actually funny to see, curious to see where it goes from here.

Shuuji, on the other hand, is a negative guy who thinks everyone looks for status whenever they interact with someone. This causes him to feel internally conflicted when Tani (who was outside any social group) ended up getting together with Suzuki, who was at the center of the popular crowd.

Shuuji is not a bad guy at heart, though, as seen by his interactions with Tani. Honestly, I can see him interacting more with Shino in the future (maybe even becoming lovers?). Even the opening animation seems to indicate that the two will often be paired together in the story.

Just how bad you have to be in terms of picking partners when it's a common occurrence for them to end up in juvenile detention?! View video page

Regarding the main couple, there were not many major developments this episode aside from Tani learning a bit more about Suzuki's thoughts while trying to gauge how to interact with her. He realized how words can sometimes be misunderstood and cause friction, like in the scene in the library. These are kind of obvious things, but well... they need to learn them at some point.

Oh, and we got Suzuki's definitions of "cute" and "cool," which kind of troubled Tani as he couldn't fully understand them. I have to say that I agree with him; calling that old teacher on the small bicycle "cute" was kind of... what? But again, maybe it is more of a girl thing?

I wonder what happens if she understand she was treating her like a cat...

DOUBT! I'm not convinced yet, need to see more definitive proof.

I am curious to see where they go from here. Will there be more side character development, or will they go back to the main couple to develop them further? I can see Yamada Kentarou being quite an interesting character to fit into a romantic role, so I am curious to see what they do with him.
