Ueno-san wa Bukiyou Vol 7,8,9,10 - Fitting ending for the story. Ueno!
It's been a while since I promised I'd finish the last four volumes of Ueno-san wa Bukiyou, but I finally managed to read them, and it was an enjoyable experience. I honestly thought about doing more posts in between, but it's a 4koma series, and there was really no movement in the status quo.
Generally, you'd expect the last few volumes of a series to offer some sort of progression or character growth, but there was none here. The last four volumes were just more hilarious gags and unfettered fun. There is no resolution to the romantic relationship between Ueno and Tanaka, which remains unrevealed.

We know that Tanaka entered the club because he was enthralled by the many crazy ideas Ueno had, but that falls a bit short of an actual declaration. The series does provide a small scene at the end regarding what happens once Ueno and Tanaka move on, showing that the club has gained new members and is still thriving.
There was even a potential new couple in the group, but Yamashita wasn't going to endure another year of pain like she did with Ueno, so she prohibited love within the club. This was a smart choice, considering she was mostly on the receiving end of the various mishaps caused by the tools Ueno invented.

All of the side characters were given a small scene in the final two volumes, but I feel there wasn't enough time to develop some of the minor ones, who are barely recognizable. My favorites are definitely Yamashita and Tanaka's little sisters—other than Ueno herself, of course.
Overall, I have to say that while I enjoyed the manga, I feel that the anime did an amazing job making the fun scenes even more enjoyable. While the gags were exactly the same, the voice actors' renditions made them way more impactful; I remember not being able to stop laughing for a few minutes at some scenes.

The author, tugeneko, didn't publish any other series after this one, so we're left without anything to look forward to. It's a bit of a shame, as I liked their art style and comedy. It has been 4 years since the last volume of Ueno-san wa Bukiyou, so the chances of them coming back are very slim.
