Yowayowa Sensei Vol 9,10 - Not kowakowa anymore! Mizuki finally did it!
Today I read volumes 9 and 10 of Yowayowa Sensei (よわよわ先生). The story finally started moving quickly with some real developments for the characters involved, especially Hiyori Hiwamura and Mizuki Mukubayashi. This is likely a sign that we are getting closer to the end of the series as a whole, even if there are still at least five more volumes to go.
The story continues with the Culture Festival, just as we talked about in the previous post. The club members proceed with their plan to make Hiyori's image less scary to normal students through some events showing her usually cheerful and embarrassed side.

Basically, they plan to remove the "kowa kowa" (scary) side of her reputation from the minds of the student body. This seems to work fine at first, but due to Hiyori helping out a club in a theater scene (where she took a very scary role), it looked like their effort was for naught. Thankfully, Hiyori notices the reality of everyone trying their best for her. She gathers her courage to get on stage and reveal her true feelings to all the students.
This seems to work greatly as students start to flock around her from that day onward, making her way more popular than she has been until now. Of course, while that solves the "kowa kowa" problem, the rest of her issues are still there. She is still prone to getting into questionable ecchi situations and is still very weak mentally, but it is one step forward and solves the initial problem presented in the manga.

There were also a few interesting scenes in between talking about their future because Kaya Kuguri is now in the middle of her third year and she needs to start thinking about what to do next. Fortunately for her, she already has a recommendation so she doesn't need to worry too much.
Mizuki is also already sure of her future. She wants to be a policewoman because she has always wanted to become a "protector of justice" since her childhood, and those emotions only got bigger with age. Akihito Abikura (the protagonist), however, is unsure as he hasn't really thought about it. I feel this is going to become an important point considering his possible future with Hiyori.

Of course, we also get a bunch of comedy and ecchi scenes when the usual Yuuki Yukishita (one of the main sources of fun in the series) starts asking Hiyori and the other girls to cosplay some jobs. She claims it is to get "inspiration" about what she wants to do so she can avoid ending up as a NEET.
I also liked the scene with Enaga Erika (the yuri discipline officer) quite a bit. She wanted to thank Akihito (by doing some ecchi cosplay herself, but that is another story, haha) for solving the situation with Hiyori, while still feeling frustrated that she couldn't do it herself.

And then, in the final parts of the tenth volume, we get Mizuki finally deciding to go ahead and declare her love for Akihito despite the slim chances. She tried so many times until now, and I honestly wasn't sure until the very end that she was actually going to go through with it.
Of course, she gets rejected because Akihito realizes that he loves Hiyori. However, that doesn't seem to faze Mizuki much. She expected the rejection, which allows her to stand on the same ground and focus on him more and more, hoping to sway him to her side eventually. I was honestly impressed by her positivity.

Now, well... the next volume preview seems to indicate Mizuki will go on the offensive by asking to sleep at his house. This only triggers Hiyori to "do better to repay her debt" with Akihito, resulting in hilarious ecchi and comedy scenes. I am looking forward to reading it soon.
