Yuusha no Kuzu Ep.18 - What will happen to Yukine?! Also nice job Aki!

Episode 18 of Yuusha no Kuzu continues directly from the chase sequence. It was a nice episode that showcased how the girls have improved their skills over time, especially compared to the disastrous expedition against a demon lord they attempted in the first few episodes of the anime.

Seira managed an incredible strike through the windshield with her katana that even surprised Yashiro. I wonder if it’s related to the skills her father, Arthur Pendragon, taught her; after all, he’s the strongest hero in the world according to the rumors, right?

Yukine was ultra cool with her lines in this episode, hopefully next one shows her winning her battle too, she's trying so hard!

Aki's reaction to Yashiro's entrusting her with his sword was hilarious. Shock at first, then proud, then gloating.

However, the focus for me was Yukine. She wants to prove herself worthy to Yashiro and recover from the many losses she has endured over the episodes. In the end, she remains alone to face an enemy while the others move away, with Yashiro trusting her to fight. Honestly, she was cool throughout, especially during the lines she spoke before the fight; I hope she gets a power-up soon to impress Yashiro.

Aki has the whole E4 thing which makes her special, and Seira has the fact that she is technically Arthur Pendragon's daughter, but what about Yukine? Sure, she has the teleport, but I feel she needs to be more connected to the overall ordeal, perhaps through something else.

Aki's precision is incredible to get Tomoe's face straight. Tomoe's reaction to the gas was also hilarious. Seiyuu did a great job with her here. View video page

Speaking of enemies, despite their attempts to kill our protagonists, I can't really hate Tomoe and Seki. They are depicted as far too goofy to feel like a real threat, to the point that I would rather they not get killed in battle, but instead somehow drift away from the group to live on a farm or something.

Also, Yashiro entrusting Aki with his sword was a nice moment; I wonder if she can really shine using it. I’ve become so used to seeing her with a shield that it will feel weird to see her wielding a long sword with both hands. You know that feeling when a joke character has been a joke for so long that it's hard to take them seriously?

What did Aki, Seira and Yashiro see in front of their car? Only wrong answers please.

Seira's jealousy is one of the recurring things I adore. She's so cute because her reason stops her from being too open fighting against the other girls.

The next episode is titled "A Brave's Motivation," and the short preview showed Yashiro’s shocked face as someone got hurt. They haven't shown who the victim is, but Yashiro's reaction is completely unlike anything we've seen so far. I don't think the heroines are at risk, but his other friends? That's a different story...
