Yuusha no Kuzu Ep.21 - Kid Seira was adorable. Now Aki vs Tomoe?

Episode 21 of Yuusha no Kuzu provides a bit of development for Yukine and Seira while also continuing the plot about the Half Dragon. Honestly, most of the episode felt like a way to make Yukine and Seira get a much-needed power-up to prepare them for whatever is to come in the next story arc.

Yukine manages to defeat her arch-nemesis and learn more about how to use her ether ability. It was mostly basic strategic stuff, as Yashiro noted during the battle, but for Yukine, it was great progress. The face he made when she asked for a head pat from Yashiro really showed how young she feels compared to the others.

I'm curious to see what happens with Tomoe by the end of the season, there's very few episodes remaining

Seira, on the other hand, had her own flashback scenes showing her mother and her conflicted relationship with her father. I'm sure it must have been terrifying when she used her ability for the first time, especially with her target being her father, who is supposedly the strongest hero around. I doubt anything is going to top that.

Her mother is also shown in the flashback, and she is completely different; I guess Seira got all her genes from her father instead. She looked like a good mother, though, worried about Seira, complaining to Arthur about how he broke her arm during training, and yet still listening to what her daughter wanted.

I like how she first told her to stop, but at the end she decided to listen to what her daughter want to do instead of forcing her to follow blindly. View video page

Again, her growth was simply a matter of gaining a bit more confidence, rather than a real power-up in the strictest sense of the word. It still works out, putting two of the four members of Half Dragon out of commission and leaving Tomoe and Levi as the remaining two to fight next week.

This leads us to Aki, as she is likely the partner who will receive the full attention of Tomoe. Aki is still focused on her ideal of a pure Hero, the traditional sense of the word and not the one we've seen in the series. It's impressive how she keeps striving toward it despite seeing all the darkness around her.

Seira's mom seemed like a good one. Weirdly Seira seems to be the only one with a reasonable upbringing.

I'm not sure how her power-up is going to play out, but I suspect it has to do with the E4; she is supposedly the only true specimen that never suffered side effects from using it. It has to lead to something more than simply hyper-regeneration; otherwise, I don't see why the various groups are pursuing it so heavily.

Next episode is titled "A Brave's Ideal," which seems to indicate Aki as the center focus of the episode, as she is the only idealistic one of the group. The preview seems to show Lord Storm Coffin too, but I doubt she'll actually fight next week, as they'll likely leave that for the finale between her and Yashiro.
