Yuusha-kei ni Shosu Ep.09 - Spriggan appears! Frenci x Kivia seems nice...

Episode 9 of Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004 continues from where we left off, with Xylo, Frenci, and Kivia wreaking havoc in the adventurer's guild. Their goal is to lure the guild master out into the open to question him regarding the attempt on Teoritta's life.

The episode was action-packed, and nearly every character had a chance to shine in battle. Teoritta arrives in the nick of time with Norgalle, Tatsuya and the others to assist Xylo against the troll demon. She takes the spotlight with her sword magic to defeat it for good and resolve the crisis.

This was a really dark scene with Spriggan controlling the body of one of the girls to kill the guildmaster. What is awaiting us I wonder...

Teoritta and the boys arrive to help Xylo in the battle against the troll fairy. She's never late, arrives right at the best moment!

Seeing Kivia and Frenci fighting together and coordinating to protect each other was wonderful to watch. As Xylo pointed out, they have much more affinity for one another than it might initially appear. If they can just settle the issue of who "gets" Xylo, perhaps with a "we'll share" agreement, I am sure they will become good friends.

Before he was killed, the guild master revealed that the person who hired him was Mahaeyzel Zelkoff. It turns out he was the leader of the Temple during the first War of Subjugation. Kivia speaks of him in the past tense, which leads me to assume he is supposed to be long dead. This seems to connect well with Spriggan's ability to control other people's bodies.

The episode ends with a major revelation. It turns out the strange man I suspected was the demon lord was only an underling. Spriggan himself appears by taking control of the body of one of the children working for the guild master. The scene was gruesome and provides more than enough reason to hate the demon lord.

The plan is apparently to destroy the city from within. Honestly, though they use the word "coexist" in their faction name, they did not give the adventurers a chance to leave. It is a choice between submission or death, which makes it hard to believe that anyone would actually support their cause, unless they are completely mad.

This can totally be used as a reaction image. Kivia saying 'pathetic' must be making lots of people happy right now.

Frenci never forgets to banter with her fellow future-wife. I honestly like her more and more with each passing episode.

Next week will likely focus on thwarting the adventurers' attempts on Teoritta's life. Spriggan is likely the primary antagonist of the season, and it is far too early for him to be defeated just yet. Where is Spriggan's main body? I am sure that finding it is the only way to stop him, but we do not even know what form it takes.
